India won the title for the fifth time by defeating China

India wins Hockey Asian Champions Trophy: India has won the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 title by defeating China 1-0 in the final. After the first three quarters were goalless, Team India finally scored a brilliant goal in the fourth and last quarter to take a 1-0 lead, which remained till the end and hence India defeated China. India’s Jugraj scored the only goal of the match. This is the fifth time in history when India has won the Asian Champions Trophy.

At the beginning of the match, China took an aggressive attitude and brought the Indian defense on the backfoot. In the first quarter, India got 2 penalty corners, but both times the Chinese goalkeeper kept their goal post safe. In the second and third quarters, both teams tried hard to score goals. But the only goal of the match came in the 51st minute, where Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh passed Jugraj and he pushed the ball into the goal post and scored a spectacular goal.

Pakistan secured 3rd place defeating south Korea

With this victory, India won gold, China won silver medal. At the same time, Pakistan defeated South Korea 5-2 in the match for third place. In the last moments, the Chinese players kept the possession of the ball for a long time, but the defense of the India was also fantastic. Earlier in the tournament, India and China came face-to-face during the group stage, where Team India won easily 3-0.

How many times did India win the title?

The Asian Champions Trophy started in 2011, where India won the title by defeating Pakistan 4-2 in the penalty shootout in the final. After that, India once again won the Champions Trophy by crushing Pakistan 3-2 in 2016. In 2018, India and Pakistan were declared joint winners. At the same time, in the final of the Champions Trophy held in 2023, India defeated Malaysia 4-3 to win the trophy for the fourth time overall and in 2024 India defeated China 1-0 to claim the tittle one more time.
