Shubman Gill Roars at Chepauk, hits 5th Test Century and Sets New Records

On the third day of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh (IND vs BAN), Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill created a history by scoring centuries. Their remarkable performances helped Team India set a massive target of 515 runs for Bangladesh.

Shubman Gill made history by scoring his fifth Test century. Gill on his impressive innings, he broke several records, finishing with an unbeaten 119 runs. Alongside him, Rishabh Pant also played a brilliant knock, scoring 109 runs.

Back-to-Back Hundred for Gill

Star batsman Shubman Gill has scored back-to-back centuries in Test cricket. Previously, he made a century in the last Test of the series against England (IND vs ENG). In this innings, Gill hit 10 fours and 4 sixes, and with this, he also crossed the milestone of 100 sixes in international cricket.

Shubman Gill’s Dominance in Test Cricket

Shubman Gill’s today hits a third Test hundred of this year and he also makes him the highest scorer for India in the longest format (Test Cricket) of cricket this year. With this achievement, Gill has also surpassed Babar Azam on the list of batsmen with the most centuries in international cricket since 2022. This is Gill’s 12th century since 2022, while Babar Azam is in second place with 11 centuries.

Shubman Gill’s Remarkable Achievement in WTC

Shubman Gill’s fifth century in the WTC and after this innings Gill’s makes him the second-highest century scorer in the World Test Championship. Right now Gill’s is only behind Rohit Sharma, who has 9 centuries in WTC.

Shubman Gill scored this century after being dismissed for zero in the first innings of the Test match (IND vs BAN) in Chennai. With this achievement, he has also equaled the records of Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. In the past 50 years, Gill is the third player to score a century in the second innings after being out for a duck in the first innings on home soil for India.
