South African women’s successfully chased down the total of 135 against six time and defending champions Australia to reach their second consecutive final of the T20 World Cup. They made sure that Aussies are out of the tournament and eventually this was the first victory for South Africa over Australia.
Aussies were invited to bat first after losing the toss and they struggled throughout the innings. They even failed to put up a competitive total against South African Women. Ayabonga Khaka and Marizanne Kapp were economical in their spell of 8 overs in total.
Australian batters failed to score big
The Australian Women’s Team did not perform according to their potential and failed to give a tough competition to the South African Women’s Team.
The Australian captain looked uncomfortable on the crease as she was only able to score 27 out of 33 balls she had faced with the strike rate of 81.82 and she struck 3 boundaries in her innings.
Beth Mooney, the Australian wicket-keeper, was determined to bat deep but she only managed to score 44 and missed out a well deserved half-century in the big game.
There were few cameos at the end which helped them to reach 134/5 after 20 overs of play.
