Asian Hockey Championship: India beat Korea 4-1, will now face China in the final
India registered a stunning win by defeating Korea 4-1 in the semi-finals of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024. The match took place at the Moki Hockey Training Base on Monday. India will now face hosts China in the final on Tuesday.
India was playing aggressively from the beginning of the match. Due to which the Indian defense finally scored the first goal by stopping the Korea’s attack, when Arijit Singh gave a pass from the right and Uttam put it in the goal, giving the India a 1-0 lead.
In the second quarter
India earned a penalty corner, and Harmanpreet Singh converted it into a goal and extended the lead to 2-0. Sukhjeet also tried well in the circle of Korea, but his pass did not reach the fellow player properly. Meanwhile, Germanpreet Singh stopped Sumit’s pass brilliantly and hit the ball towards the goal, making the score 3-0. Korea reacted quickly and converted a penalty corner to make it 3-1 in Asian Hockey Champions
At the end of the third quarter
India got another penalty corner, which was converted by Harmanpreet Singh, giving India a 4-1 lead.
The India continued to dominate the last quarter. Abhishek and Arijit forced the Korea goalkeeper to defend several times. However, Korea got another penalty corner in the last eight minutes, but his shot went outside the goal. After this, India maintained complete control of the game and won 4-1 (Asian Hockey Champions ) and confirmed their place in the final.
Hero of the match, Germanpreet Singh said, “We played a great game today. Sumit gave me a great pass and I thank my roommate, who gave me such a good setup. “
India will now face hosts China in the final on Tuesday at 3.30 pm.
