IND VS NZ: Head Coach Head Coach Gautam GambhirBacks Virat Kohli For The Upcoming Home Series, Makes Bold Statement On Team India

Virat Kohli is preparing to play in his home away from home ground at Chinnaswamy Stadium which has been his second home ground for nearly 18 years now because of his association with Royal Challengers Bangalore. The setting was familiar as he touched the ground and shook hands with the curators.

Later, Virat Kohli began his training session in the stadium where Team India is set to play their 1st Test match against New Zealand. This Test series is also part of WTC cycle 2024-25 and Team India is looking to cement their spot for the Final next year in England.

Virat Kohli is a world-class cricketer – Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir, head coach backs the former captain for the upcoming series against the Kiwis despite his performance against Bangladesh last month in the press conference ahead of the series. He believes that Virat has the experience and he knows how to perform under pressure.

“Virat Kohli is a world-class cricketer. He has performed for such a long period of time. He is as hungry as when he made his debut. His hunger is always there and that is what makes him a world class player,” said Gautam Gambhir.

“You don’t keep judging people after every game. If you keep judging people after every game, that’s not fair on them. It’s a sport and people are bound to fail,” stated Gambhir.

India is ready to take any challenges

Gambhir also highlights our performances against Bangladesh in the 2nd Test at Kanpur that how we snatched victory from nowhere. He embarks the approach towards every single game that India is going to play in the coming future. India is scheduled to play 8 Test matches before the Champions Trophy next year.

“We want to be the team that can score 400 in a day and also the team that can bat for two days to draw a Test,” he stated.

The Kiwi challenge

India will play a 3 match series against New Zealand on home soil before leaving for Australia to play BGT 2024-25. The first match will be played at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on October 16th, 2nd and 3rd matches will be played at Pune Stadium and Wankhede Stadium respectively.

After facing defeat in Sri Lanka, New Zealand will be eager to give a strong fight back to Team India and want to secure points for WTC cycle 2023-2025. New Zealand will be without the service of their former captain and star batter Kane Williamson for the 1st match of the series as he misses out due to an injury as per reports.

“It’s disappointing not to have Kane over here,” says newly appointed captain Tom Latham.

Latham also backs his spinners to dominate on the Indian soil. There will also be discussions going on the future of their former captain Tim Southee who stepped down from captaincy after the defeat in Sri Lanka, but their captain is confident about players and will be ready to take on from tomorrow.
